  • I wouldn't use the term "conflicts". I don't pray because of what happens in the afterlife. I pray for things in this life, to sort my own thoughts, and to get my head on straight. Now, the prayer of someone who believe in predestination will certainly have a somewhat different nature than the prayers of someone who is seeking forgiveness and worried about the afterlife.
  • I don't believe in predestination. So, there is no conflict for me.
  • I would say yes, that prayer would conflict with the theory of predestination. Predestination is not Biblical however, so realistically there is no conflict.
  • No, there is no conflict because predestination has to do with God sovereignly deciding events as He pleases while prayer has to do with the means God uses to bring about those events that He has decided. An analogy would be that I decide to eat some food, but the means of doing that involves the use of utensils which I also decide to use. Thus God decides to do something, and He also leads people to pray for that which He has decided. It is hard for humans to get our minds around the concept of predestination because we are not God, but the Bible does teach it in Romans 8:28-32 and Ephesians 1:11-12 and many other places too.
