It's not a measure of happiness, which is the most important thing. Bhutan reports its gross happiness level. We should do that as well.

well I think personally because the welfare of people are not taken care off and it does not indicate the quality of life in terms of employment, poverty and goods and services.

It ignores certain aspects of well-being or humans standard of being; these include -no enironmental discounting (overuse environment to attain higher growth), has inter-generational concerns -no accounting for house-keeping work, informal employement esp. in LDCs and women -what about of growth increases with capital-intensive technology (more persons not skilled to work) -does not look at per capita - total?
