If I plan in advance and have a lot of flexibility, how can I get inexpensive airline tickets?

It seems that cheap airline tickets are all over the internet these days. Consider packaging flight and hotel together and opening up a time period of at least a week that doesn't necessarily mean travelling for that whole time. Then go to priceline.com hotels.com or get the AAA travel book and get to it.

If you are willing to fly anytime you can get chepaer rates as well. Flying on Saturday is always good, it is often cheaper being the slowest travel day, and if youare willing to take flights late at night or the earliest morning flight (red eyes) it can be cheaper too. Also, if you are willing to have more stops and layovers in different cities it might be to your benefit as well versus non-stop flights.
