Personally I wouldn't let my kids do it (if I had any) but my aunt let my cousin do it. They met in a chat room 7 years ago. My cousin was 15 (a young 15 too) at the time and in the UK. Troy was 28 and in US. Unbelievably my aunt let my cousin go and visit Troy a year or so later and they're getting married next year! I have to say that having met Troy he seems ok but the important thing is that they make each other very happy and so I guess it all turned out ok in the end.

Certainly. If I wasn't allowed to do that sort of thing, I'd be miserable right now.

I would not let my child go on a date with anyone they met online without supervision of me.

I would be very careful with allowing that... In alot of cases everything is normal and the person is who they really say they are..but there are those rare occasions where they arent who they say they are...or the guy/girl isnt as wonderful and nice as they claimed...look into it... tell them if you want to date them so bad can i look into the situation more just to make sure its not really a creeper who plans harm...

The way life is heading now days...I would encourage my kids to get out and mingle. Between video games texting and facebook... No one will ever meet anymore period. Im sure in the future sex and marriages will all be via video chat.
