  • could be a fuel pump and pump sock strainer. Also check your PCV valve and Fuel filter. I had a problem with a car a while back, I would floor it to get on the Interstate, and it would buck, hesitate, and carry on. It would only run normal at cruising speed. Good luck.
  • I have a '96 Dodge 1500 Ram V-6 that misses wicked at any acceleration. It showed bad Fuel Injector(s). Replaced. No change. It OBD2-check engine lite indicated bad coil. Replaced. No Change. It indicated MAP Sensor error readings. Replaced. No Change. The Kitty had Hairballs Terribly (well, the cat-conv was plugged). Opened it up by cutting it down. No change. (Except that now the truck does move). It's symptoms: Any acceleration leads to 'pop pop pop pop'ing thru the throttle body...and a 'bogged down' kind of power surge (without any real power surge at all). Stinky (as in wicked rich) exhaust. Fuel consumption of a dragster's ability (a 35 gallon tank is necessary on this truck to go a mere 300 miles!)... It never goes into 'closed loop' (meaning it does not 'shoot codes')...according to the code reader, 'No Trouble Codes' present. Yet by the way it runs, I'd say there's trouble right there somewhere! (Vaccuum testing indicates good valves, etc, thru the standard 'vaccuum tests', and 'compression tests' indicate a nice, healthy engine.) So... What is making this 6 cylinder truck with 177 HP act like a two lunger with pneumonia, yet consume fuel in the gallons-per-minute league (OK, 10MPG..but that's pretty crappy for ANY 6) Thanks, Jerijan
