I have a 98 gallon discus tank. I have 4 large discus, and they have lived happily with a variety of shoals of tetras, cardinals seems particulary suitable. I also have two eartheaters in the tank which add variety and are very interesting to watch.

    Cannabis its just a plant

    loaches, neon or cardinal tetras

Discuses are very subject to disease, they call for a warmer temperature (85°F), and they are sometimes slow eaters and will not fight for food.

Another Discus is best; they are cool enough to just have discus in a tank
-but clown loaches are a great idea-

Angelfish as they live together in nature. Rams are also a good choice as they are also timid. Bushy nose Plecos. I agree with the others on Cardinal Tetras as they also live together. Corydoras are also fine. Clown loaches can be a bit active, but also live in harmony.

Keep the tank well planted with either fake or real plants. It's so very sad that some keep them in the un-natural, sterile environment with nothing in the tank. For some reason, they feel this illogical approach is better for them.

I keep my Discus at 83 degrees...really don't want to shorten their lifespan by going warmer, and my Green Corys can't take the heat as well.

I have found that frequent partial (25% max at once) water changes are the secret to healthy Discus, and they will then even breed in slightly basic, fairly hard water.
