At 1.5 people per square kilometre South Australia has the lowest population density of all Australian states.
However, that isn't the point at all. The point is that states exist in countries other than the USA, making your question ambiguous, to say the least. I didn't down-rate it because, although it demonstrated your ignorance of the world beyond the confines of one particular country, it is typical of the arrogant attitude to the rest of the world that you share with a significant number of your countrymen.

So Alaska is in fact less than South Australia at 1.16. Are there any other states that are less?

And Alaska was square miles...making it .4408 people per square kilometer. There are no states in Canada. How about Russia? Are those states up there? Mexico is states, but their densities are greater.....

You seem to be determined to miss the point. Why don't you just read and digest my first comment? I didn't suggest that there is a state somewhere with a population density smaller than Alaska. I deliberately chose a state outside of the USA as a protest against the inward-looking mentality of the question. There is a world beyond the borders of your country. Can I say it any clearer than that?
