There was never a country called Ethiopia. The land area that is called Ethiopia today used to be Abyssinia and Eritrea was part of Abyssinia.
It used to be called Abyssinia and Eritrea used to be a part of it.
It was one of the few African countries never to be successfully colonized by a European nation.
It is also the birthplace of our favorite morning drink, coffee whence the Arabs of Yemen took it across the Red Sea, hence Arabica Beans.
