  • The bible says that the entrance was barred by a Cherubim with a flaming sword that turned in all directions to keep people away from the tree of life. There is no mention of it after that, and considering the geological damage a major flood would cause, it's probable that it was destroyed/buried during the flood of Noah's time.
  • Though the previous answer is right, people said that the garden of eden is not on earth, but between heaven and earth. when jesus was dying on the cross the thief on the right told him "remember me Father" then Jesus said "Surely you will be with my in Paridise" Some people think Jesus mentioned the Garden of Eden, but people could not get in because of Adem and Eve's sin
  • The entrance was barred by a Cherubim with a flaming sword that turned in all directions to keep people away from the tree of life.
  • The Garden of Eden was more of an environment than an actual location on earth. Yes, there was a real geographic place on the planet called "The Garden of Eden" but what made that place special, what made it the Garden of Eden was its environment and not its physical location. The word 'Eden' means: spot, moment, presence, open door, delight. So, the Garden of Eden was the spot for the moment where the presence of God provided an open door to heaven. Its where heaven met earth. Before the Garden of Eden came to earth it was in heaven and after Adam sinned it went back to heaven from whence it came. Remember I'm primarily talking about an environment not necessarily the physical location. In the following scriptures God is refering to Lucifer (Satan before he fell), here's what He said: "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering... Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire." Eze 28:13-14 This shows that the Garden of Eden was in heaven BEFORE the fall. Next we have the following scriptures: "...To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." Rev 2:7 The word "Paradise" here means "Enclosed Garden" and notice carefully the presence of the Tree of Life. I submit to you that this is none other than the Garden of Eden back in heaven where it was located before God brought it to earth. In conclusion, the physical location where the Garden of Eden was located, no one knows exactly where it was or where it is today. The actual Garden of Eden (The Paradise of God with the Tree of Life) that's back in heaven where it belongs and where every born again child of God will get to experience it's beauty and glory forever! • The Garden of Eden required tending. (God put the man in the Garden "to dress it and keep it.") When it was no longer tended, it got overgrown, just as any orchard will be in a generation or so. In a century or less the angel probably retired since the wouldn't have been recognizeable as such anymore, and today it's probably under a kilometer of sedimentary rock from the Flood.
  • Looking at the other responses; I'm fairly certain I'll be down rated for this answer. After Eve ate the quince (sorry it wasn't an apple) she gave some to Adam which he ate and "their eyes were opened". It was written that God visited the garden and discovered their indiscretion. In the Genesis narrative they were indeed banished and not allowed to return. The garden still existed but it was no longer tended by man. Adam and Eve tried a number of times to return to the garden; but they would never again behold its beauty. However, they were allowed to have something from the garden to remind them of God's promises and to remind them that through their bloodlines mankind would one day find redemptiom. Remember the gifts of the magi in the Christmas narrative? incense, gold and myrrh. God allowed them to have myrrh to show them he would keep his promise to them. We know Adam and Eve were placed in the garden of Eden, so they were not created in the garden. The physical location of the garden has not changed. The topography has. Did the flood wipe it out? Who can say. (I'm obviously using non biblical references lets see if I get "crucified" for it).
  • I just doesn't exist any longer. Fell by the wayside.
  • I think they built Disneyland over it.
  • The Akkadian and Sumerian Myths were discovered in the 19th c. of the CE, and helped thoughtful folks to understand that Mythology occurs in the whole Bible, here specifically in Genesis. They had a Flood story, creation of the human from mud and blood (Genesis mud and breath), two brothers fighting, etc. The physical description of Eden in Genesis is basically today's Tigris-Euphrates area, which were not wiped out by the Flood obviously, we are bombing the hell out of that area today and the natives to us and each other in Iraq! The theology is what we go for and understand, not that a snake talked, or a fruit was taken from a tree, or that things grew before the Sun was created and that the 'moon" is a lesser light that shines by day. The Creationist approach to the Bible is in-defensible, and the sooner we move on the better for Science, Religion and the students in Public School. Scientists who deny any Divine involvement in the World's origin are also stepping out of their field but "bad" Bible study makes it worse and us look silly!
  • PS to my answer above: Isaiah 60:6 has the gold, frankincense and camels coming, used as part of the mythology of Matthew- this Child is a King who draws the presumably wise from Persia (Iran) to find the True King; Psalm 72:10 has the Kings of Tarshish and the Isles, the Kings of Sheba, bring tribute- recall Sheba of Solomon and Queen of Sheba fame, same idea, the East came to Jerusalem/Israel's Kings for Wisdom. Vs. 11 goes on in the same vein. The Christmas crib/creche has an ox and ass traditionally- reference to Isaiah 1:3 "The ox knows its owner, the donkey its master, Israel does not know, my people do not understand." Rather clever touch there by St. Francis of Assisi who gave us the crib, a great Catholic (13 th c.) who knew his Bible, for those who think the Bible was discoverd in the monastery/seminary Library by 16 c. Reformers, Martin Luther and John Knox both stories told by prominent US radio-TV teacher-preacher folks! They told me as a kid the animals were "central heating" for the cold Baby, cute but no cigar...mothers would prefer their version of course!
  • If you look at Genesis it gives you clues. It says that there is one river that flows through Eden and than branches off into four rivers: The Tigris, The Euphrates, The Pishon, and The Gihon. The Nile River used to be called the Pishon. Interestingly enough the Nile used to flow in an East to West direction (could the change in direction be influenced by the Great Flood?) The Gihon possibly might be the Ganges River. Assuming we can find the junction of all of these rivers and follow that junction toward the one main river...you could get a good guesstimate of the general area of where the Garden of Eden is.
  • Angels with swords were placed in front of it, to keep anyone from entering again.
  • The Genesis story is a myth, a fable. It is trying to explain (among other things) how we humans got to be in the state we're in. Why life is difficult and bad things happen when most of us just want to be 'good'. The Garden of Eden was a state of mind. A state of blissful unawareness of ourselves. There was no sin, no 'bad' because we had no idea what it was. It is the story of humankind's progression into self-awareness and from there into development of the concepts of 'good' and 'bad' - then 'selfish' and 'giving', 'brave' and 'cowardly' and so on. All of a sudden we had created standards to live by, but which no-one can fully live up to! Much of what is in the biblical genesis story was borrowed from older Babylonian and Mesopotamian Creation stories - and most religions have stories about how all (including us and our behaviour) 'came to be'...
  • God sent Adam & Eve away... Put angels as guards over the origional eden & got Adam & Eve busy by creating us the human race....
  • St Joni Mitchell gives us the definitive answer to this question... From the Book of Ladies In The Canyon (VS 1 and 2): They paved paradise and put up a parking lot, With a pink hotel, a boutique, And a swinging hot spot. Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot. They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum. And they charged all the people A dollar and a half just to see 'em. Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
  • If you are interested in finding its physical location, try a site which has research by David Rhols: http://www.british-israel.ca/Eden.htm I do not know what his doctrinal beliefs are, but this seems to be well researched with extra biblical, historical proofs.
  • other people moved in and lived happily.
  • God forbade entry to it. I think it eventually became as damaged as the rest of the world, and anyway, no one could ever find it again. When God recreates Heaven and Earth, earth will be like Eden again.
  • I almost wonder if the Garden of Eden was on a totally different planet? Because it says in the Bible, "So he drove out the man; and He placed Cherubim at the east of he garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken." Genesis 3:24 He drove out the man and placed an Angelical being in place to guard the Garden of Eden. This meaning that the Lord knew one day we would have the capability or advancement and knowledge to get to the Garden of Eden. I believe it is a Spritual realm or other dimension, possibly another planet like mars or only the Lord knows. But another theory is that it has been buried by a flood and is hidden to be found years from now. It is a very interesting topic. Me and my fiance stayed up for hours the other night discussing this very subject. If you have any other theories I'd love to hear them. My email address is angelicalprincess23@yahoo.com I would love to come across it someday.
  • There never was a Garden of Eden. Earth is the garden. If god made man out of mud and blood, why couldn't he have a bit of an imagination and make us different than every other mammal/animal in the world? all parts are the same, heart, liver, eyes, hair. And if the BOOK is the truth why is it different from book to book? Why is there so much argument about the truth? It is not truthful. Every story is political and none proven. If I am wrong prove something truthful in the bible with a similar story written by another historian at that time. Bible study is studying a couple mens stories of what they think happened before their time, not history. If Yaweh is so good, how come Jesus was illiterate. He never wrote anything. The bible is not the word of god of light, it's the word of old time men in power.
  • Corporate America deforested it for paper products and now uses it to farm palm oil.
  • THE REAL ISSUE IS WHAT WAS THE GARDEN OF EDEN ANYWAY? I SEE IT AS THE SANCUARY OF GOD WHICH WAS SAFE HAVEN FROM THE SATAN UNTIL SIN WAS INTRODUCED BY ADAM AND EVE'S ACTION. THAT SANCUARY BECAME IN TIME WHAT WE KNOW TODAY AS THE CHURCH. IT IS THE ONLY THING CREATED OR BROUGHT INTO EXISTANCE THAT EVEN THE GATES OF HELL CAN NOT STAND AGAINST. SATAN HAS ACCESS BUT CAN NOT DESTROY IT IN ANY WAY AND IN IT CAN ONLY DECEIVE. THE CASTING OUT INVOLVED BEING REMOVED FROM SAFETY OF EDEN UNTIL IT WAS RESTABLISHED ON THE DAY OF PENTACOST. THE FLAMING SWORD WAS NOT TO PREVENT ENTRY BUT THE PROTECT IT FROM DESTRUCTION BY MAN NOW VESTED WITH EVIL. ONE CAY THIS SAME SANCUARY WILL BECOME THE BRIDE OF CHRIST AND CEASE TO EXIST AS SUCH DURING THE MILLIMIUM REIGN. HOW ABOUT THAT? THERE IS A LOT MORE BUT SPACE IS NOT AVALIABLE TO DEAL WITH THIS COMPLETELY.
  • They hired Jesús, the Mexican gardener, to clean up the mess left behind
  • They went to a better Garden
  • They paved it according to Joni Mitchell....
  • GWB stole it and gave it away to the international elite for their hideout. My 2 cents.
  • Oh they did build a WalMart overthere.
  • "God" shut down gold mining operations until a new supply of "adams" could be produced to restart works.
  • It was later renamed: England
  • It was taken to Heaven before the Flood. Let me show you why I believe this to be so. Genesis 3:24 says, "So He drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life". Cherubim are referred to as the 2nd of 9 orders of angels in medieval angelology. It also refers to the plural form of the word cherub, which would indicate more then one angel was placed to protect the garden. An added feature was the flaming sword which turned every which way to "keep the way" of the tree of life. This would indicate to keep a clear path or to restrict anyone access to the tree of life itself. The garden of Eden, also referred to as the garden of the Lord, is not mentioned again until Genesis 13:10. However the flood has already taken place by this time. Other references to the garden are Isa 51:3, Eze 28:13, 31:9, 36:35, Joel 2:3 None of these text say what happened to the garden of Eden. However we must let the Holy Spirit guide our minds and search the scripture if we want to understand this question. And in order to do that we must look a little earlier in the text. Here we go... Gen 2:9, 3:17, 22, 24 all give reference to the tree of life. The Book of Revelation also gives 3 references to the tree of life. (Rev 2:7, 22:2, 14) Notice that Rev 2:7 refers to the garden as the "paradise of God". Likewise the tree of life is said to be in the "midst" of the paradise. Gen 2:9 says the tree is in the "midst" of the garden. Can we agree that the location of the tree in both the garden and paradise refer to the same place? Rev 22:2 says the tree of life is in the "midst" of the "street". A street would normally be found in a city. The apostle John in Rev 22:2 see's the holy "city", new Jerusalem, "coming down from God out of HEAVEN". Rev 22:14 says to eat of the tree you must enter in "through the gates into" the city. With these references as evidence I believe God took the garden of Eden, referred to as the paradise of God, up to HEAVEN before the Flood happened. We can argue back and forth and say either God took the garden as a whole or just the tree of life. I have given you more then my Opinion, I have shared scriptural reference to establish why I believe this so. With these texts I believe God took the garden as a whole up to Heaven and He'll bring it back down with the "new Jerusalem". Amen.
