  • Yes. HPV causes warts in general, not just herpes. There are just some strains of it that mainfest as herpes.
  • Nope! Herpes causes herpes. HPV causes genital warts, among other things. Two different viruses. :)
  • I don't think so... HPV is Human Papiloma Virus. I'm pretty sure that there are a set of viruses for herpes, that start with HHV...Human Herpes Virus...for example, HHV6 is a strain of Human Herpes Virus. I don't have time to look it up right now, but that seems to be what I remember from school.
  • HPV is linked back to genital warts, not herpes.
  • From what I was told, HPV dosen't cause any STD.It's a virus that women develop that can cause ovarian cancer and infertility. I don't recall ever hearing that it can cause genital warts or herpes. I do however remember that HPV can develop after having Chlamydia, gonorrhea or another common STD from being left untreated. This was the information I was given at my last pap.
