Help answer this question below.

I am a full-time student and I made just over $8,000.00 last year. Most of my income was reported on a 1099. I also paid $310 a month in child support. Should I file?

    My answer would be yes, but I am not a CPA, nor do I work for the IRS. Try the following link to the IRS website for more information... this is from their "information for students" page.

    The first link "Do you need to file a Federal Income Tax Return" has a little questionairre that you can follow to determine if you should file... there is also the "Taxable Income for Students" link that may be helpful.

    If in doubt... file one. Its best to err on the side of caution when dealing with the IRS and taxes. Besides- if any taxes were withheld from your earnings, you may be entitled to a refund, and you don't want to miss out on that!
