  • Has the toyota been parked or driven frequently? dry-rotting can play havoc with belts and tires. if the toyota is being driven, i see no reason to change the timing belt, till about 80,000 miles, maybe longer. has the vehicle been driven in city or interstate? interstate mileage does not hurt an automobile as long as proper maintenance is maintained. The dealers want your business and suggest you change the timing belt around 60,000 miles. i have proven them wrong and hope to continue. a corolla is a well-built automobile that should last at least 250,000 miles with the engine. again, proper oil change is imperative.
