  • I think getting to the marrow hurts and I don't envy you if you have to go through it, but I also believe you can handle it because lots of people have, because it will be over quickly, because it will be done by caring, sensitive professionals who will seek to minimize your discomfort, and because the worst part will be the worry about how bad it will hurt. Most of the really painful things I have faced in my life have not been as bad as I feared. After all of them, I have felt really good after they were over. I am pretty sure that it will not be the worst pain you have ever experienced and I am praying that you will have courage and relief. Ask if you can talk to someone who has experienced it and get a pointer or two. Don't forget to tell the doctor and the nurse (or other attendant) that you are really nervous and would like some pointers for getting through it. They will likely be more reassuring than me.
  • Yes, you will feel some discomfort although they can numb the site a bit before they procede.
  • I would read about the alternative that is not near as painful and is way more accurate. The trutest is using a brush and not a hole puncher eh. check out www.zolaenterprises.com under news they have an article on the Biospy vs the tao brush or trutest. If you can find a doc that uses that sure do it.
  • not to worry you but that is an exremely painful procedure. even if they do use general anesthesia(they do sometimes) you will be in alot of pain when you awake.
  • There is a sharp pain when the marrow is aspirated; otherwise, the rest should be covered by the local anesthetic. Talk to your doctor, though. He/she might be able to administer a mild sedative first. Good luck!
  • im scared too!!! i might have to get a biopsy of a lump i have on the back of my neck 2morrow, not sure though. the nurse at my school said i had a swollen lymph node or something. anyway im still scared. someone reassure me too!!!
