  • The most successful way I've used to get rid of fleas was as follows: 1. Fill a shallow, large basin with soapy water. 2. Place it on the floor of the room where the fleas are located. 3. Place a shade-less lamp next to the basin. 4. Turn off all lights in the room except for this lamp. The fleas are attracted to the light. They will try jumping at the light but when they come back down from their jump, they will land on the water. Normally, they are too light to break the water's surface tension. However, the soap weakens the surface tensions and the fleas drown. The first time I tried this, it took a couple of nights for all fleas to be gone. Also, be sure to regularly wash your pets, particularly if they've been outside. If the flea bites on you are itchy, try a baking soda bath. This will often soothe itching in a lot of people. Chamomile lotion may also work.
  • What are some ways to get rid of fleas and flea bites WITHOUT GETTING ELECTROCUTED TO DEATH in the process? 1. Get rid of your flea infested pets. OR 2. Get some of that flea powder...spread it around your house and make your pets were flea collars.
  • For fleas in your home you can first vacuum very well, edge vac and everything, furniture and all, then sprinkle iodized salt on floor and furniture, let set for about a week, then vacuum it up!
  • add 2 ounces of apple cider vinegar to a gallon of water and pour into your dogs drinking bowl. It won't hurt them..and it gives their skin an acidic taste which repels fleas.~ Use the juice of a lemon (or concentated REAL lemon juice) mixed with tap water and placed in a squirt bottle and spray your dog down with it.(Avoiding eyes and tender areas) It repels mosquitoes~
  • Make sure to vacuum ALOT and throw out the bag. Use flea bombs for your home and make sure they kill the flea eggs. I bombed a few times just to kill the fleas and they kept coming back.
  • I just went to the vet to ask about this very thing and she gave me a tiny little tube of liquid. You push aside their fur in between the shoulder blades and squeeze the tube (1ml or so) onto the skin. It absorbes into the blood stream and when the fleas try to bite, it kills them. She said it's more effective than the shampoos you can buy. It was only $10, starts working within 24 hrs and lasts for a month. Although I have a 3 month old Pomeranian so I only needed 1 tube because of her size.
  • Well I found for the bites, try the Avon skin-so-soft, just like mosquitoes it seems to keep away the fleas and it soothes the itching. A lot of vaccuming the carpet and couch. Wash all clothing in Borox to get them out of cloths.
  • My vet told me to keep a cut up flea collar in my vacuum bag, too, because it kills any fleas and/or eggs that get sucked up in the vacuum. Vacuum often!
  • Lavender oil is a good repellant in and around your pets bed, but never directly on to the pet. Also crushed garlic in your pets food will also act as a repellant to fleas.
  • i found alot of these things helpful. i will try them when i get home, i especially like the idea of the lightbulb and the bowl of soap water. i dont haev fleas in my house though, so does any one know where they could be coming from?
  • The only thing I've ever really known to help was Borax. Sprinkle it on your carpets and flooring, leave it for a couple hours and vacuum. Fleas will be gone. It's a little messy but it works.
  • Petrol, Matches, Woosh!
  • Have a bath of with salt in it .
  • nobody is answering the question...the question is how do you get rid of fleas and FLEA BITES? i had a cat that kept getting out of the house and coming back with fleas...so we finally had and took the cat and her kittens to the shelter. it seems that because the pets are gone the fleas are attacking us. so we bombed the house...im not getting bit anymore but i have the scars and cant seem to get rid of them, how do i get rid of this problem? and please dont say cocoa butter cause that didnt work and mederma is tooo expensive for just a lil tube. my ankles and my shins are covered
  • i have heard that putting tea tree oil on your pet will kill the fleas. someone told me goldbond medacated powder also works.
  • Ive been washing mine as much as I can and put neosporin all over about twice a day. In the morning they look smaller and the scars seem less darker. Ive also tried a cream called Concha Nacar, bought it at the dollar general for 3 bucs and it did work.
  • Environmental flea extermination: Initial steps 1. Quarantine infested pets. 2. Collect bedding, rugs and throws and wash them in soapy water. Soapy water kills the eggs, larvae, pupae and adults. Be careful not to spill eggs or larvae when picking them up. Eggs are usually found with tiny pellets of dried blood that are defecated by the adults and used for food by the larvae - the combination looks like salt and pepper. Really gross salt and pepper. source: http://www.howtogetridofstuff.com/pest-control/how-to-get-rid-of-fleas/
