  • This is a common question on several photography boards. They are both good cameras...the lense is the key. I personally prefer the Nikon, but it's really a matter of preference.
  • I have a Canon SD600, and thank's god i'm very satisfied with it,
  • They are both excellent cameras, especially now that both are on a level digital playing field. You would be satisfied with either. I personally am very happy with Canon because it fits in my budget better and it easier to find deals online for Canon than Nikon in my experience. But both are great.
  • Any camera will perform well in the hands of a skilled photographer. The lens is more important than the body itself. If you are shooting in lowlight situations (indoor sports or weddings), you'll want a Canon 5D or the Nikon D300 in order to be able to shoot at higher ISOs. Otherwise, get what you can afford and have fun. Neither is better across the board.
  • Neither is really better. Something to keep in mind, though, is that if you have Canon peripherals, you might see fewer hardware conflicts by using a Canon camera. I've had some problems mixing a Canon camera and HP scanner and printer--the scanner and camera both try to claim the same system resources, which occasionally causes my computer to crash. I've been using a Digital Rebel XT for about a year now, and I have no complaints about it. I also have a Canon 35mm film camera that has served me well. In both cases, I chose Canon because I could find better deals on them. Nikons seem to be a bit more rare.
  • Nikon has probably more reliable cameras for long term use. Canon (not Cannon, which is something totally different) has probably a better variety of accessories/lenses.
  • I personally prefer Nikon. My father and me owned 7 Nikon starting from Nikonmat, FT2,FM, FT3, F8008, Coolpix 4500 and D80 with many lenses and accessories. Non of these equipments had been broke down for the pass 30 years of using being passing to me. The lenses are still clear and good and without a single fungus growing. Few year ago I purchased a Conon EOS500, and I found the camera just like a plastic toy, and the way I kept the camera as Nikon, but fungus was growing on the lens, I did know why ?
  • According to a graph I saw here > http://stagelifesite.com/reviews/top-5-point-and-shoot-digital-cameras-to-buy/ People's camera choice would be Canon. That would be also a good sign that Canon cameras are better because the more people buy your product, the more funds you have for your product research and development. The better the quality of products they produce.
