Sounds like a laser mouse (no ball). The most common problem here is the surface you are using, it needs to be smooth! Try it with a sheet of plain white paper, that should work!

Shake some holy water on it and call me in the morning.

Aside from the mousing surface.... (did I just say mousing surface?) Sometimes wireless mice suffer interference from other RF devices. It's a long shot, but if you have any of the following near either the mouse itself or the transmitter it talks to (connected to the PC), try moving them a foot or more away: Cell phone; cordless phone; bluetooth anything; microwave oven; wireless network adapter or router.

That happens to me sometimes, I also have a wireless mouse, made by logitech. Try and use the reset button on the bottom of your mouse, and there is also a reset button on top of the receiver.Push these down, at the same time, I hope it will work for you. You can go to the control panel click on the mouse icon, and reset it back to the default settings. Good Luck..

I have a same type mouse, when it happens to me it's ether, conflicting program running( meaning you still have active program from another mouse running) low battery, I'm on my mouse pad edge, or too far away from the sending unit...Have you downloaded the latest drivers? Also you can go into your control panel and set your mouse preference's..All else fails try a new install of the mouse software...
