I can't turn up the volume on my Sony Walkman ESP MAX D-E220. In the lower left hand corner of the screen it says AVLS. What does this mean?

    AVLS: Automatic Volume Limiting System

    It is designed to keep you from hurting your ears. In some parts of the world devices with headphones must have this to be sold. Check your manual or call tech support but a lot of the time if you hold down or tap the play (or some other interface button) button repeatedly it will turn it off.

    you may also need new batteries. AVLS kicks in when the battery is dying so it lowers the max volume to save on battery power.

    to solve this, you needed to go to settings, in my case i went to Settings-Common settings- AVLS set to off....by then i can already adjust the volume....btw- i am using Sony Walkman...
