  • The Holy Spirit came after the death of Jesus. He sent Christ for many reasons. Christ was the ultimate sacrifice, he was without blimish. He also set the example of how we are to live, love, forgive, show mercy, obedience, and faith in the Lord our God. The Holy Spirit is how Christ indwells in his children. The great comforter. We no longer have to sacrifice animals for the atonement of our sins. Jesus had to be a man to die, and God to forgive us.
  • They are one like my wife and I are one. One in spirit. Three separate beings. Marriage was designed to be a way for us to be like them (ever heard us called the bride of Christ? I'm not marrying Jesus physically, thank you). God is the supreme boss. That's his job title. He sent Jesus to bring us to him. God and Jesus were both present to send the Holy Spirit to us, whose job was also to bring us to God. Both Jesus and the Holy Spirit were here to bring us back to the father. It's a long process to answer this, so study the Bible. Most people decide, "This is what I want to believe...don't confuse me with the truth." The wise person decides, "Show me the truth--that's what I want to believe."
  • According to traditional Christian belief, one of the persons of the Trinity for a short time inhabited a human body so he could identify with us, communicate with us, serve as a role model for us and pay the price for our rebellion against God. According to the Bible, God says through Isaiah (Isaiah 55:9) "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." If God is so far above us, much of our speculation about the "why" will be shallow and foolish, as will much of our concept of how the Father, Son and Spirit interact.
  • "If the Trinity Doctrine teaches that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one, why would God send Himself to Earth?" ... The answer to this question can be summed up in one verse from the Holy Bible ... "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." - John 3:16 It's beautiful! Thank you.
  • Romans,8:3-11 The Son was sent to become as flesh to condemn sin in the flesh. So that the just demands of the law might be fulfilled in us who live, not according to the flesh, but accordin to the spirit.
  • God sent His son into the world, as a ransom for our sins, because He loved us. Jesus was crucified, ascended into heaven after His death, appeared before His disciples while they were together, and showed the scars from the nails, and promised His Holy Spirit as a comforter and director.
  • Jesus is God the Son and the human manifestation of the Trinity..God sent the part of the trinity to earth that was able to manifest as human.
  • To die for our sins on the cross so that our sins could be atoned for and forgiven. Christ's blood (God's blood) was the only blood perfect enough to make the atonement. I hope that this is helpful. -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!
  • The Trinity doctrine is a joke. How much clearer could the Bible be? It's his SON. He was the first being CREATED by God ("firstborn", Greek: monogenes). Or, read Hebrews. This is a book to the Jewish people. They knew ONE God. They knew Jehovah for over 1000 years. If at any place in the Bible it would explain this three headed God of the trinity....this is it, but it doesn't. The first chapter of Hebrews VERY CLEARLY explains how important Jesus is. How important his role is. But, nothing about a Trinity. Where is the Trinity mentioned? The Roman Catholic Church makes it up in the 4th Century. The word doesn't appear once in the Bible. The concept goes against everything in the Bible - ONE GOD - Deu 6:4.
  • Very good question. Makes you wonder why anyone would worry about details like this. About as significant as how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. God and Man and the relationship of each of us to the Universe is the subject of so many idfferent dialogues, documents, books, songs, stories and so forth, so many different ones that it is impossible to logically accept one over the other. But if you consider that virtually every religious text and every religious teacing throughout history has focused on the single theme of man's relationship to the universe, adn the universe is called "God", then it would seem that the detaisl fo this relationship may not really matter. Live a good life, be nice to everyone, don't step on toes when you can avoid it, be honest with yourself and others, and you will be following about 99.9% of the religious teachings of the world. The details are for the ministers to justify their existence. So say I.
  • “Why would God send Himself “ sounds a bit schizophrenic. Won’t they tell you one minute that it is the Father that sent His one and only Son. Next minute you are told these are just terms they use there is only one God. What a confusing mess someone has turned the concept of God into.
  • “neither came I of myself” Jesus is reported to have said in John 8:42. The trinity was not Christ’s teaching, he never uttered the word, nor are the supposed three of the trinity one being. A messenger is someone who is sent with a message that he has to deliver without changing it. This is exactly what Jesus declares in John 11:49 “For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.” Jesus emphasizes his role as a messenger by repeating numerous times that he has been sent. The verb ‘send’ itself tells us that two parties are involved, the sender and the one who is sent. Reason tells us that the sender is greater than the messenger and Jesus confirms this with an emphatic beginning in John 13:16 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.” Jesus is the messenger and God is the sender and Jesus is keen that the people should know that. That’s what he tells God in John 17:3 “that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” The Holy Qur’an (HQ) advises Christians to reject the concept of trinity. It says in HQ 4:171 (note: for ‘Allah’ read ‘the universal God’) “O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a MESSENGER of Allah, and His WORD which He conveyed unto Mary, and a SPIRIT from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and SAY NOT "THREE". Cease! (it is) better for you! Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His Transcendent Majesty that he should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender.” Translated by Mr Pickthall from the original text of the HQ.
  • The idea captured by the term "Trinity" is that: 1) There is one Being, God, and three Persons, Father, Son and Spirit. 2) The Father is fully God, the Son is fully God and the Spirit is fully God. BUT, the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Spirit, and the Spirit is not the Father. It is important to understand that the idea captured by the word "Trinity" has both a Oneness and Threeness to it. Hence, I see it entirely consistent with Scriptures that stress how there is One God as well as Scrptures that talk of the distinct Persons of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. (e.g the Father sends the Son; the Son, who is also Man, prays to the Father etc). Why would God come to earth? To understand this requires context: 1) God is the loving Ruler of the world, who created humans to be rulers of the world under Him 2) humans rejected God by trying to run lives their own way without Him. This is what the Bible calls sin. 3) God is just; He can't let sin go unpunished. He is also merciful, and would rather forgive the sinner who turns back to Him rather than see him/her bear the brunt of His just anger. 4) The problem of sin and broken relationship is between God and humans. To justly forgive us, what God the Father does is send God the Son to take the punishment in our place so that our relationship with God could be restored. There is no involvment of an innocent third party here.
  • they became the trinity when jesus went to heavan
  • Because only someone who is perfect can pay for the sins of the whole world. An imperfect person can only pay for his own sin.
  • To see what it felt like to be human; he only lasted 33 years and unnecessarily sacrificed poor Jesus.
  • Only a God could wash away our sins and serve as a worthy sacrifice. Such is the depth of our iniquity.
  • For the great eats? ;-)
  • Simple - to redeem fallen mankind.
  • One but 3 separate entity's at the same time.
  • Because He can..... :) God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are three persons in one. A triune God. God the Son is subject to the Father in rank and authority, not in substance of being.
  • If you really want an answer to your question about the trinity involving the divinity of Jesus, then here goes. Christianity during Jesus time did not teach that he was god. Matter of fact Jesus even said that after he was gone, many of his teachings would be corrupted. Notice: "I know that after my going away oppressive wolves will enter in among YOU and will not treat the flock with tenderness, 30 and from among YOU yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves." - ACTS 20:29,30 "However, the inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances..." - 1 Timothy 4:1 The Trinity Trinity (definition) – That the Father, the Son (Jesus), and holy ghost are all together god, each eternal, each almighty, and none greater of less than the other. The belief that Jesus Christ is god, is based on the idea of the trinity. But if you take a look at the history of this teaching: First the word trinity or the teaching is never found in the bible. Also the Encyclopaedia Britannica says that the belief of the trinity or that Jesus was god or was part of god did not even exist until two to three hundred years after the death of Jesus. The Encyclopedia Americana says - “Fourth century Trinitarianism was a deviation from early Christian teaching.” This teaching was adopted into “Christianity” from pagan religions from Egypt, Babylon, from Hinduism, and even from the philosopher Plato that taught the trinity belief 400 years before Jesus. Finally the trinity became the central teaching of the church not because of the bible but because of the order of the Roman Emperor Constantine who was pagan himself. He really couldn’t care less about bible teachings but only wanted to end the debate between church leaders to keep unity in his kingdom. After he made that decision in the year 381, anyone that openly disagreed with the trinity were violently persecuted or killed with the permission of the church. Back to the Scriptures After that history lesson In reading the bibles record of Jesus, Jesus never claimed to be God or any part of God. Everything he said about himself indicated that he did not consider himself equal to God in any way – not in power, not in knowledge, or age. The bible calls Jesus “the only-begotten Son” of God (John 1:14; 1 John 4:9) - First off, John 1:18 – “No man has seen God at any time…” (The bible says no man has ever seen god but thousands saw and interacted with Jesus during his earthly life.) - God has no beginning and no end. Psalms 90:2 – “…even from time indefinite to time indefinite you are God.” But the bible says that Jesus was “the firstborn of all creation.” (Colossians 1:15) Also see (Revelation 3:14) Unlike God, Jesus was created and had a beginning. - Notice another scripture. When a man came to fall at Jesus’ feet and then called him “Good Teacher”, Jesus said to him at Mark 10:17, 18 “Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.” (If Jesus himself was god would that statement make any sense? Jesus always directed any praise to god, not to himself.) - John 14:28 – “The Father is greater than I.” (Jesus talking) - 1 Corinthians 11:3 - “…the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.” (The bible always talks of God of being superior in power to Jesus.) - Philippians 2:6 – “…Jesus Christ, who, although he was existing in God’s form (as a spirit in heaven) gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God.” - Also 1 Timothy 2:5 Says that the disciples viewed Jesus as the “one mediator between God and men,” not as God himself. A mediator is obviously someone separate from those who need mediation, not part of one of the two parties that need mediation. ---That’s just a short list of the many accounts since I did want to make this to long--- But the bible is clear and consistent about the relationship of God to Jesus. Jesus Christ always distinguishes himself from God and showed that he never desired to be seen or worshipped as god. That he only wished to do the will of his father. Consider Psalms 83:18 – “That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the most high over all the earth.” Isaiah 12:2 – “Look! God is my salvation. I shall trust and be in no dread; for Jah Jehovah is my strength and my might, and he came to be the salvation of me.” Jesus stressed the importance of his father’s name at John 17:26 – “I have made your name known to them and will make it known.” Even in Jesus model prayer: - Matthew 6:9 – “YOU must pray, then, this way: “Our Father in the heavens let your name be sanctified…” Another thing Many people don’t know that when they say Hallelujah, it means “praise Jah” short for Jehovah. Even Jesus’ name itself means “Jehovah is Salvation” The mother of the prophet Moses was named Jochebed, which means “Jehovah Is Glory” The prophet Joel in the bible, his name means, “Jehovah is God” The prophet Elijah in the bible name means “My God Is Jehovah” Isaiah’s name means “Salvation of Jehovah” Hezekiah, Josiah, Nehemiah, Obadiah, Zechariah and Zephaniah all are well-known Bible names whose meanings involve Jehovah, or Jah, the shorter poetic form of Jehovah’s name. Even many people’s names today have Jehovah in their meaning: Johnson means “Jehovah has favored” The name Jonathan means, “Jehovah has given” Joshua means, “Jehovah is salvation” or “Jehovah rescues” Jacqueline, Jackie, Jacquelyn, John and Jack means, “Jehovah has been gracious” Chanya means “The Grace of Jehovah” Kayla means “Jehovah has given” Joey means "Jehovah increases" Jesse means “Jehovah exists” Jeremiah and Jeremy means “appointed by Jehovah” Josiah means “Jehovah supports” Joe or Joesph means “May Jehovah give increase” Jane, Jan, Janelle, Janet, Janice, Janie, Janine, Joan, Joanne, Jodie, Joni, Jonie, Joanna, Johannah all are variations that mean “Jehovah is gracious” One last thing: Also remember that “god” is not a name, it’s a title. Just like “boy” or “king”, “God” and “Lord” are titles, “God” is anything you choose to worship. Your money can be your “God”, your possessions can be a “God”, but the only God the bible points to is Jehovah, God’s name. ---Explanation of pictures--- -The "Christian" Trinity was just a pagan belief that was incorporated into the church hundreds of years after Christ. The pictures are of the Hundu trinity, then the ancient Egyptian trinity, and finally the "Christian" trinity. -An ancient painting of the scene in Nicaea when Emperor Constantine made his decision-
  • Check out Genesis 19: where the LORD destroys Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and brimstone from the LORD out of heaven.
  • God sent Himself to earth to atone for the sins of fallen man; God is: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. One substance of being.
  • this question was asked: Apr 5 2004 7:07PM since Gawd must be bigger than the planet earth, he had to send part of himself as a representative of who He is and of who the people he created are. Jesus just represents Gawd. Gawd and the whole earth and everything on it and in it are one with Gawd. It is all his creation. He built it from himself. Jesus was special because he listed to what his instruction were, and he followed his instructions and went to the cross for you and me.
  • If God is the "Father" and the "Son"(Jesus) both simultaneously then, notwithstanding the absurd and irrational nature of such an idea, inevitably its intrinsic rationale would be that God BEGOT HIMSELF! Consequently, here we have the most incomprehensible phenomenon of God being a father and a son to Himself simultaneously, which means that God actually didn't send anybody but instead, through some sort of metamorphosis, or whatever, transformed Himself into this man they call Jesus, came down to earth and did His own "will". Or place in a different frame it would mean that in His unsuccessful campaign to "save" the world He not only impregnated the Virgin Mary but He Himself also, simultaneously, became the human embryo inside the Virgin Mary's womb which eventually was born, grew up and then made Himself a vicarious sacrifice to satisfy a bizarre doctrine where the innocent is punished and the guilty spared. What else can we make out of such an absurd concoction? Nothing! The Christian dogma requires that this dilusion of God splitted into three entities, which seems to be its foundation or at the very least an integral part of it, be "believed by faith". Sound reasoning cannot be employed--not because it may be inconsequential--but because it doesn't have any and "faith" is what is important. So there you have it.
  • I suggest you read the Gospels and then you will have the definitive answer,
  • They are Three in One, the Trinity, or the Tri-unity, as some say. Man sinned, and man was created in His image, after His likeness, and man was the crowning jewel of creation, and when man sinned, and perverted his free will, God sent His Son to die and cover our sins and all that that ever has or ever will exist so that we will not live in defeat and in sin, but in victory and in His glory. Jesus is my Savior, and He laid HIs life down for you and I and all and then rose again on the 3rd day, proving He was God, and that Satan could not ever hope to win.
  • shizla, all religions have "mysteries". Christianity is no different. Volumes have been written on this topic. Christians are told not to be confused, nor dismayed. That is all I can say. Faith is involved, as well as trust. John 3:16 is my best answer.
  • If the trinity were true, it should be clearly and consistently presented in the Bible. Why? Because, as the apostles affirmed, the Bible is God’s revelation of himself to mankind. And since we need to know God to worship him acceptably,(John 4:24) the Bible should be clear in telling us just who he is.The words "essence" and "nature" and "Trinity" do not appear in the Bible and they are not taught in the Bible. The trinity doctrine teaches that the Father, the Son and the holy spirit are all co-equal in eternity, power, wisdom but what does the Bible say. Search as you may, you will not find one scripture that uses the word Trinity, nor will you find any that says that Father, Son, and holy spirit are equal in all ways, such as in eternity, power, position, and wisdom. Not even a single scripture says that the Son is equal to the Father in those ways—and if there were such a scripture, it would establish not a Trinity but at most a “duality.” Nowhere does the Bible equate the holy spirit with the Father.
  • The Greatest Commandment in the Bible and the Qur'an Some will say that this whole discussion over the divinity of Jesus is unnecessary. The important thing, they say, is to accept Jesus as your personal saviour. On the contrary, the Bible’s writers stressed that, in order to be saved, it is necessary to understand who exactly is God. Failure to understand this would be to violate the first and greatest of all the commandments in the Bible. This commandment was emphasized by Jesus, on whom be peace, when a teacher of the Law of Moses asked him as follows: “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Jesus replied: “The most important one is this: ‘Hear O Israel, Yahweh our God, Yahweh is one. Love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark ch.12, vv.28-29). Notice that Jesus was quoting the first commandment from the book of Deuteronomy, ch. 6, vv. 4-5. Jesus confirmed not only that this commandment is still valid, but also that it is the most important of all the commandments. If Jesus thought that he himself is God, why did he not say so? Instead, he stressed that Yahweh alone is God. The man who questioned Jesus understood this, and what the man says next makes it is clear that God is not Jesus, for he said to Jesus: “Well said, teacher, you are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him . . .” (v.32). Now if Jesus was God, he could have told the man so. Instead, he let the man refer to God as someone other than Jesus, and then he even confirmed that the man had spoken wisely (see v. 34). If Jesus knew that God is a trinity, why did he not say so? Why did he not say that God is one in three, or three in one? Instead, he declared that God is one — full stop. True imitators of Jesus will imitate him also in this declaration of God’s oneness. They will not add the word three where Jesus never said it. Does salvation depend on this commandment? Yes, says the Bible! Jesus made this clear when another man approached Jesus to learn from him (see Mark ch. 10, vv. 17-29). The man fell on his knees and said to Jesus: “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
  • Jesus replied: “Why do you call me good? No one is good — except God alone.” (Mark ch. 12, v. 19). By so saying, Jesus made a clear distinction between himself and God. Then he proceeded with the answer to the man’s question about how to get salvation. He said: If you want to enter life, obey the commandments (Matthew ch. 19, v. 17, cf. Mark ch. 10, v. 19). Remember that the most important of all the commandments, according to Jesus, is to know Yahweh as the only God. Jesus further emphasized this in the Gospel According to John. In ch. 17, v. 1, Jesus lifted his eyes to heaven and prayed, addressing God as Father. Then in verse three, he said to the Father as follows: “And eternal life means knowing you, the only true God, and knowing Jesus Christ, whom you sent” (John 17:3). This proves beyond doubt that if people are to get eternal life they must know that the one Jesus was praying to is the only true God, and they must know that Jesus was sent by the true God. Some say that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God. But Jesus said that the Father alone is the only true God. True followers of Jesus will follow him in this too. Jesus had said that his true followers are those who hold to his teachings. He said, “If you obey my teaching, you are really my disciples” (John 8:31). His teaching is that people must continue to keep the commandments, especially the first commandment which emphasises that Yahweh alone is God, and that Yahweh should be loved with all our hearts and all our strengths. We love Jesus, but we must not love him as God. Today many love Jesus more than they love God. This is because they see God as a vengeful person who wanted to exact a penalty from them, and they see Jesus as the Saviour who rescued them from the wrath of God. Yet Yahweh is our only Saviour. He said so Himself (see Isaiah 43:11; 45:21-22). The Qur’an confirms the first commandment and addresses it to all humankind (see 2:163). And God declares that true believers love Him more than anyone else or anything else (2:165).
  • Our sin required payment, but because God is a God of both justice and mercy, He decided to make the payment Himself, and sent His Son to become human and pay for all humanity. Does that help at all?
  • Only God could defeat Lucifer and that is what it took!Remember when Jesus at 12 years of age told the Rabbi's that He knew Abraham? Jesus of the New Testament is God in the Old Testament. He was Mekelzadak (spelled wrong).
  • 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. Galatians 1:11-12 I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that the Bible was "breathed out" by God. Galatians 1: 11-12 tells us that the gospel was a revelation from Jesus Christ himself, which was recorded by Jesus disciples and Paul. God himself chose the disciples and the people whom He knew were going to spread His word and write the Bible. The Bible was written by approximately 40 men of diverse backgrounds over the course of 4000 years. Despite being penned by different authors over 40 centuries, the Bible does not contradict itself and does not contain any errors. The authors all present different perspectives, but they all proclaim the same one true God, and the same one way of salvation—Jesus Christ (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). In John 8:58 "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" The above verse speaks a lot about who Jesus really is. All about Jesus and the Holy Trinity explained in the below website. http://jesustrinity.blogspot.com Lots of videos, sermons, songs are also present, along with all of Jesus miracles, his parables, and questions on his birth, crucifixion, resurrection are answered. Many major questions on Christianity are answered with lot of examples that cannot be denied by anyone, such as, 1) Did Jesus really exist? Is He God? Why did He suffer on the Cross? 2) What is so special about Jesus? Why cant I just view him as an ordinary man or a teacher or a prophet? Why should I see him as God?
