Again - that may be true where YOU live - but as far as I can tell, there is no "standardization" as you suggest. California cops have red and blue - both city and CHiPs. I checked online and it appears IL has similar color variety.
Google Police Light Bars, and you'll see the broad range. The only thing I know for sure: Red means emergency vehicle, get out of the way. Yellow means non-emergency vehicle requires caution.
i just know that in PA all chiefs alwways have a blinking red light. and blinking red means get the hell out of my way lol i can see it being diff in every state...i actually know someone who moved up from VA and he had a white light, and in PA we have blue lights. (firefighers in Personal vehicles) I just know up here the only color in a personal vehicle that is allowed is blue exccept for chiefs and as i've said they are red
