If a player makes a shot attempt, and the ball does not hit the rim, can the same player go and be the first to touch the ball?

    It was a change in rules about 5 years ago in the NBA rules, you may now make a legitimate shot attempt, have it become an airball, jump up and catch it legally, and everything be ok.

    Only if he don't leave his feet (walk, step, run), any other time another player would have to touch the ball before he does.
