I usually didn't too much pretending so I'm not sure.
Mostly I played because playing was most fun. In the winter we would snowball fights and in the summer water gun wars. I did a lot of exploring through the natural wetlands in my back yard in Clarence, NY where I grew up and a lot of bike riding too.

I loved pretending I was sord fighting some evil force. Then it would knock the sord out of my hands and it would point the sord right at my heart and would laugh or something, and i would be helpless, but then, using some special power that i didn't know i had, i would make the sord fly right to my hand, and chop the bad guys head off. I used to (And still do) daydream and pretend a lot, but the funny thing is, I'm rarely sure of what exactly it is I'm pretending to be.
I just kind of drift off and think and do whatever happens to strike my fancy, I don't usually bother with thinking it through or trying to define it.
That just ruins the fun :)
