If you read the entire comment thread in the lentil soup stuff, you'll find that Eli already tried this experiment, and it failed miserably -- when played backwards, the song just sounds like gobbledygook -- just like anything played backwards.
I made up the whole bit, it's humor.
What I do if I want to listen to a song played in reverse is to import it into a free programme called Audacity, which I believe is made by Linux. Once you've imported it, you can use the Reverse effect.
Can you copy a song from your iTUNES library onto a flash drive and plug n play in a car deck with USB?
