Help answer this question below.
I'm answering my own.
My fears about sharks are like 2/3 irrational. haha.
First of all, I love being in the ocean, but I won't go far out alone and the person I'm with must be ahead of me, even by a foot.
Irrational side:
If I'm swimming in the dark, I start thinking a shark is in the deep end of the swimming pool. It freaks me out steadliy til i have to get out.
I also imagine a giant shark crashing out of the floor beneath me with its mouth open to eat me :(
I'm afraid they will will rip me apart and make human fin soup.
My worst fear about sharks? That I will be eaten alive.
What scares me so much? That I will be eaten alive.
I'm not afraid of sharks, like in the way if I see one I'd be scared. If I was in a boat or in a cage and they were swimming by it'd be awesome. If I was out in the water with a bleeding leg, I would be mighty scared of them sharks. What about them scares me in that situation. They are awesome hunters and can kill me instantly. But instead of wasting their time killing me they'll likely just start eating me without being nice and killing me first. Then theres more blood in the water. Relief from the pain comes when 20 sharks come in for the frenzy.
I'm just afraid of meeting one (or more) in its natural environment. OK, I freak out just by seeing one in an aquarium, but I don't like big animals in water. They are big. And in water.
I'm scared of the bigger ones like Great Whites Makos and Hammerheads because they have sharp teeth and are always being reported and shown to be attacking humans - I'll use Jaws and Deep Blue Sea for my evidence here - even though it's said that less than 40 species have ever attacked humans and they don't actively hunt us...
It's irrational, but I don't want to get eaten :D... I think that's fair...
I'm terrified of so many things about sharks. Their dead, unblinking black eyes, their multiple rows of razor sharp teeth, their search for meat as they silently slip through the shadows of water....shall i go on? The fact is is that I've alwayz been afraid of sharks. I know my fears are probably typical and silly, because after all, sharks weren't given any chance. It's like people automatically fear them. I believe it's because we've been trained to fear them. Jaws, Deep Ocean, and all those other shark movies....they are a big reason for the spike in everyone's fear. It is ridiculous to be in fear of sharks because of those movies, but how can i help it? It's the way my mind reacts.

I thought I was the only one with the dark pool thing, and I love sharks! I blame it on Jaws. I saw that movie way too young.
