  • A standalone property, for a single family/dweller, with no sharing wall (ie no wall is shared with another property) is detached. An attached property has at least 1 shared wall... if there are only 2 houses sharing 1 wall, this is semi-detached, if there are 4 houses linked in a chain, this is sometimes called a townhouse, and if there are more daisychained together, then this is a terrace.
  • Detached is an outbuilding, a building you normally store the lawnmower, gasoline, misc. junk. an outbuilding is not attached to the main house. attached is an added-on building that connects with the main house and is a permanent part of the structure.
