It would take much longer than it would to work things out with your parents. Why not sit down and talk things over with them?

It will take as long as it takes for your parents to fight it all the way and for it to be processed through the judicial system. In other words, a long time. Why not wait till you are older and then leave home. It may be quicker in the long run.

I have been through this with a family member, the more the parents fight it, the easier it is to prove you need it. There are a lot of legal advantages to getting emancipated. If you feel you need to do it for either economic or safety concerns then do it. If you're just pissed at your folks, then reconsider.
