No...we can just use Myspace, Facebook, MSN, Bebo and various other sites for that. socialising isnt the whole purpose of AB, its to ask and answer questions. I hope this site doesnt become like that I like the way it is now

Answerbag has certainly become a much more Social than Knowledge Database in the 10 months that I have been a member.

I understand what you're saying, but I have to say that reading different people's opinions and having this forum for open discussion, is 'educational' on both personal and cultural levels.

Yes and no. This is certainly a more social format than Wikipedia with much more human interest content than true educational. It also allows the educational answers to be put together in more of an personal article format than a a basic report. In other words conclusions can be presented which may not be 100% proven fact, which is another part of the social aspect. An example of what I mean is 'How did JFK die?'. Assassination by Oswald is the obvious answer but there could be plenty of back up for conspiracy theories, etc. I think it was the aliens. ;)

Has anyone considered the possibility that wikipedia could be plain wrong? It is editable by anyone.

On Wikipedia you can't be funny... or sarcastic.

1) I agree that the answer to a lot of possible "educational" questions can be found on Wikipedia. However, it is sometimes a little difficult to find. So some people just prefer others to find it for them. 2) In some cases, the answers are *not* on Wikipedia (or then, pretty good hidden). You could also sometimes disagree with Wikipedia's answer, or just find it incomplete. 3) Some answers have more entertainment value than those on Wikipedia. And you get not just one answer.

Well, now, what makes wikipedia the only authority? What makes google better than plain folk? Wikipedia doesn't help a young boy asking scrotum questions, does it. It takes a man to do that. Wikipedia, my scrotum!
