  • Not sure exactly what you mean by disregard. did the court send you a notice that you did not have to appear on a citation? maybe, this is what you are asking. when a new traffic sign is installed, the police give the motoring public 30 days to become familiar with the sign, before enforcement. maybe this is your question. other situations may apply. need more information! p.s.....why would you want to fight the cancellation of a citation, anyway, if this is what you are asking?
  • Another answer to your question. if you were stopped at a red traffic signal and wanted to make a right turn, was there a sign that stated "no right turn on red"? did you make the right turn, irregardless? if so, you were in violation and a citation should have been issued. This sign was posted there for a reason. it could be a high number of traffic crashes had occured at this intersection and a view obstruction was the reason. by placing this sign, it eliminated the consequences of a bad view obstruction, by not allowing motorists to make a right turn, on a red signal. thus, fewer crashes.
  • If a sign is posted and it's reasonable to assume you knew what it meant, you are obligated to follow it. No driver can disregard traffic signs or signals.
