  • Eating candy definetly very bad. You are probably having sugar crashes from the candy which is sending you to sleep. Try walk about the office a bit more, take a break from your desk and try focus your eyes on different things (in the distance) every now and then. Try not to fight the sleep too much. If you have a first aid room, try go an lie down for about 10 minutes, you might feel more awake afterwards. If its any consolation I usually start to nod off between 2 and 3 in the afternoon.(so any time soon then)
  • Definitely stop using the candy and coffee to stay awake as you will get a sugar high/caffeine rush which is short lived. You need something that is going to keep you going , like fruit to snack on. Also make sure you have breakfast, if you don't already, but not sugary cereal. Most people say eight to nine hours of sleep is needed a night to function but everyone is different. I would try getting an hour extra a night and see if that helps. Also if you're anything like me I struggle to function when it's cold, turn up the heating or wear an extra layer.
  • You might be suffering from sleep apnea, I had this problem also. You should see a doctor and consider blood work to make sure there's nothing more serious.
  • I heard from John Tesh the other night that a cold workplace can make you sleepy. Supposedly, a temperature of 78 degrees is the perfect temperature for staying away. I must be weird because I thrive in a cooler environment, if I don't feel air circulating or I am too warm, I start to nod out. Ask your employer for a space heater. http://www.tesh.com/ittrium/visit?path=A1x97x1y1xa5x1x76y1x2449x1x9by1x244ex1y5x7f76x5x1
  • The same thing happens to me if I have to much sugar due to the fact that i have hypoglycemia you are describing my symtoms If too much sugar is consumed the pancreas throws out TOO MUCH insulin and then the blood sugar bottoms out. sugar is NOT the answer... A glass of orange juice ( which has NATURAL sugar) stabilizes me or a actual orange..... If I have candy which is rare, I have tomake sure it contains a protein like peanuts or peanut butter... a power bar would be a better choice.... at least this is my ecperience... good luck Judy
  • Maybe you are not getting a sound sleep. Its sounds like you are in rem sleep. Maybe getting up and walking around would help a bit.
