  • It's possible. Just go about it the healthy way, please. Too many people rely on quick fixes. It doesn't work that way. And make sure you're doing it for the right reasons. Don't buy into the Hollywood stick figure image.
  • likely this would put you on the very low end for bmi, your bmi is at a good level now, if you want to be skinnier maybe instead of thinking of losing weight you can try to convert fat to muscle with exercise? Muscle does weigh more than fat so you might not lose 15 pounds but could still lose a dress size or two, and exercise will help you mentally, physically and emotionally as well as getting your body to look the way you want it to. 15 pounds sounds a little excessive to me, i would think at your weight and height you would notice a big difference if you lost 7 pounds, just be careful and be healthy.
  • I'm the same height and my doctor told me 150 was the lowest that I could go. But Weight Watchers had me at 135. I would talk to a doctor and ask them first before you try anything. I have since found out WW has a lot of weights for people wrong! Good Luck!
  • as long as it's in a healthy way. and i would think you meant toned, instead of skinny. i think. my dad weighed 235 recently lost 75 pounds by cutting out fast food and walking 3 miles a day, starting in about march.
  • Why would you want to be skinner? Seriously and will 15 pounds be enough? You can run the risk of developing anorexia. Please as stated before do it the heathly way. Take your time in losing the weight and if you continue to see yourself as not being skinny enough please talk to someone.
  • I think that is pretty average for your height and age. If you want to loose weight, don't go as drastic as 15 pounds, I'd say to start with 5 or 10 and then see how you feel.
  • It sounds possible but unhealthy. Losing too much weight is not good for you. My advice would be to stop looking at the scale and concentrate on how you would like your body to look because your weight in pounds is not everything. Try exercises to slim your body in the way that you want it. Try to build muscle and probably at the same time you will lose fat. You may not see the results on the scale but you will see it on your body. For example, I'm 5'1" and I weigh about 134 or so. That is technically overweight by the height-weight ratio called the BMI. I have a friend who weighs about the same but is 5'4" (I don't know if she's lying about her weight but that's what she told me.) You would think that she looks thinner because she's taller but in fact, I wear two dress sizes down from her because all of her weight is fat, most of mine is muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat.
  • I'm 29 and 5'6 and 137 pounds also. I would be happy with your weight. Rather than try to lose more, take this time in your teens to understand how to keep this weight and not gain weight. Honestly, this is a great weight and height and often girls start gaining weight after high school. Plus, you probably look ten pounds lighter because younger people have more muscle mass than older....as you age, you lose muscle mass. So, celebrate!
  • I am also 5'6''. To the person who said 150 was the lowest weight.. umm I think you mean the highest weight for a BMI to be in normal range. 137 pounds is smack in the middle. I weighed about 135 when I was in high school and I was really fit. I gained weight over the years and went up to 180. Then I realized this was unhealthy and dieted. Over 2 years I dropped the weight and my goal was 135.. I ended up changing that to 125 and at 125 went a little lower to 118. At 118 I didn't look like a runway model or a skeleton or anything, it was in the lowest range for our healthy bmi. However, I think a bit of curve and muscle look good on a girl and so i gained weight on purpose. For the past 5 years I have been 125-130 pounds and I feel good and healthy. I wear a size 4-7, have muscle tone and look healthy. Is 137 overweight? No you are fine and probably look great. Could you lose or gain weight and still look good? yeah but not too much either way, just about 10-12 pounds or you will feel too thin or too chubby.
