  • I don't think you should convert to any religion unless you strongly believe in it. Going to people in person and discussing religion *can* be difficult, especially when you are talking to people who are seeking to convert you. If you are worried about offending the person in front of you it can be difficult to find the question you want to ask, or ask the question you know you want to ask. Therefore I think you should learn as much as you can via the internet and discussions online. There are Mormons here and there are people of every other faith, explore and you will find a path that you believe in. Best of luck. :) ps. Do not allow yourself to be pressured into *any* religion. Take time over your choice.
  • Yes, you can find all the information that are given in the discussions without talking to the missionaries. It is kind of nice to have them because you can ask them anything you want and they usually have an answer. However I understand being nervous about talking to them and I highly recommend taking your time. There are a few places you can start looking for information, I would offer just a few guide lines. 1) Make sure your source is a good one. I would think if you want to learn about the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints you should start with sources that are from that church. Obviously they can tell you better what they believe than anyone else. 2) The most important place to start is the Book of Mormon. People call us "Mormon" for a good reason. It's because we advocate so strongly that people read the book. When you decide to talk to the missionaries it will all come down to one question: "Do you believe the Book of Mormon to be true?" The only way you can find that out is read it for yourself. The church offers free copies. 3) Another place I would start is at www.mormon.org under the basic beliefs section. It is run by the church and therefore has the most accurate information you will find about our beliefs. 4) Understand that we as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints do not want to force anyone into doing anything they don't want to. We just want to share what we believe because it has made us happy. Take your time and find out what you can, if you need information or have any questions there are plenty of people willing to answer them. Take me for example =)! You can e-mail me any time at dizzam@gmail.com. 5) Take into account that most of the negative things you hear about our church are completely untrue. No we don't have horns, no we don't have multiple wives, no we don't have human sacrifice in the temple, no we don't believe the Book of Mormon is our bible, no we don't worship or pray to Joseph Smith...anyway you get the idea. If something sounds like an extremely radical belief it probably is. I hope this isn't too much information. Just take it slow and go at your own pace. Whenever you're ready there are missionaries ready to talk to you. Hope this helps.
