I have a VCR/TV combo. When I try to play a recorded tape, the picture is fine, but there is no sound. What could be wrong?

The first thing I would do is check to see if you have earphones plugged into the audio jack. Plugging something into the audio jack usually disconnects the speakers.

The second thing that I would do would be to clean the heads on the VCR using a commercial cleaning kit. Most of these use a cassette with a cleaning tape that you dampen with a cleaning solution. Clean the VCR, let it dry for a few minutes, and try to play a tape. It may be necessary to do this two or three times if the playback heads are very direty.

If this does not clear up the problem, there is likely a fault in the audio section of the unit. This would need to be addressed by a repair centre, so check your warranty to see if the unit is still covered.
