Help answer this question below.
RVs are less hillbilly and more 'old codger'.
The people that own them tend to be the elderly who seem to think travel requires taking a 3-bedroom/2-bath house with them wherever they go.
That being said, if it makes them happy, I would not deny them the privilege of owning one.
Full Disclosure: I currently own a '21 RV based on a Toyota pickup truck chassis. It gets about 15 mpg (that's 50% to 100% better than most).
Ha ha, I almost lost it there with your choice of adjectives. I don't think that bumpkins can afford
such a vehicle as thus stated. It is reminiscent of
the rustic lifestyle and hence I see the correlation that you are attempting to draw here. I'm going to say yes because this question made me smile so much.
Not at all. We've got two. One little one that gets great gas mileage for an RV that is only 19 feet long and all windows on the side. Just right for the two of us. And the we had been living for 2 years in another one that is 32 feet long while we built our house. It has everything in it, including an incredible bathroom and skylight. The little one is just a fun camper. The big one will be sold any week now. We used to camp from our van or car but it's so nice to have everything we need just sitting in the RV ready to go at a moments notice. I've never felt like a hillbilly in either one.
Heck Yeah! We just bought an '88 Coachmen from Alabama baby!
lol. In a way I do.. but not really. You can buy milion dollar motorhomes, that us hillbillies cant afford. lol
Nah...It's a piece of haome on wheels. You jump in and GO!
no, I have met all kinds r.v. ing, and what s wrong will hillbillys, better than some fifth ave snobs , far as I can see.
Not usually, I would love to have one of those million dollar machines to go on a roadtrip :)
I aspire to one day own an RV and roadtrip accross the continental US.
I am an opera singer. I live in New York. I sing all over this country and Europe. I do not, in anyway, consider myself to be hillbillyesque although I think it's a valid lifestyle choice. ;)
Around here they are suburbanesque. Always parked in driveways. Where are the hillbillies when you need them? LOL on the road
Surely you jest, calling a 1.6 million dollar Prevost Marathon RV hillbillyesque. You need to get to an RV show and take a look at the current crop of RV's.
Oh, yes, very.

I'm 16 and I've been thinking about getting one some time in the near future, as in 2 or 3 years.
Tell me, do most RVs run on gas? I thought that maybe they ran on diesel.
by travis bickle on December 4th, 2007
The very large RVs tend to have diesel engines because it takes the torque of a diesel engine to get them moving (think 18-wheeler truck...;-D...).
.
Smaller RVs are typically build on pickup truck or van chassis and have gasoline engines of various sizes.
If you want to know more about the Toyota-based ones, there's a very active Yahoo group that deals with them

Can I borrow your RV tomorrow? :)
by Stableboy on December 4th, 2007
Drat, I wish you had asked earlier. I happened to drive out to Riverside today (where I keep it parked) and I would have been happy to loan it to you.
.
I'm selling it soon, but if you wish to borrow it before then, I'm sure we can arrange something.

I was teasing you. But thanks!

Ahhh....a comment on our old-codgerdom I surmise. The brain cells take a little longer to fire at our age....;-D...
