Help answer this question below.

I tried to crank my car, all the lights come on, horn blows, but the car will not make a sound or crank. Could it be a dead cell in the battery? What happens when there is a dead cell in the battery? What sounds does the car make when you try to crank it?

    it could be your starter motor try again to start it using jump leads.if this fails it most certainly your starter motor.or solinoid. get your battery checked out anyway.your car should make like a clicking sound when you crank it.a dead cell in your battery means it wont hold the charge for very long.and will fail when the tempreture outside drops

    It is most likely the starter in your car and not the battery that is causing the trouble

    Nay, that's a dead starter. Some batteries are designed to devote all power to starting and 1/2 to accessory, but most are 100% on or off. Either way you need to check the connections, the alternator ground and wires for fraying (and grounding out) and probably replace the battery if you don't see anything. Batteries are warranted.

    Oh if it is the starter the solenoid should work fine, you'll hear a 'clickickickick' under the hood, loud. If you don't hear this, the solenoid went or a fuse/relax/fusible link may have gone on the solenoid.
