i believe its because newman saw jerry trying to take that guys girlfriend away from him in the suicide episode lol and newman was going to tell on him, so obviously his bad personality was recognized by jerry

To Jerry, Newman is all things evil. Or it is the fact that everyone has a person(s) that they just, no matter what they have done to you, rub you the wrong way. That and Newman has caused Jerry to get fleas and that would make anyone hate another person.
