The river, the old architecture, the cobblestone streets, the Frenchness... I love Montreal.

I went there for a field trip in Grade 8. It was just another day to me. What did I enjoy the most while being there? Well, I enjoyed spending time with my classmates the most.

I went there back in the late 70's as a teenager. The thing I enjoyed the most was the penny style arcades that they had at the time. That's the city where I saw my first chalk outline of a body, too. Strange in a way, because all the way there from my town I was reading The Godfather by Mario Puzo. When we left the city and started for home, I noticed very nice looking women near the highway onramps thumbing rides. I suggested to my mom and her boyfriend that we should pick them up and give them a ride. They both said, "NO!" Couldn't figure out why until I grew older and wiser. :)

The Smoked Meat, the shops on Ste Catherine St, Le Vieux Port, all the shows and festivals, the feeling of being in a country apart from Canada, and the French.

Part 1: Yes, very beautiful. Part 2: Going home...think about going home to my sweet wife...as I do in every city I have to travel to. [Part 3: Did ya read what I wrote, honey? Would ya put on that black lacy number t'night, maybe?] :-)

Absolutely everything. I love the huge varieties of food: shawarma, all night poutine, dollar pizza slices, smoked meat sandwiches, plus every other ethnicity of food imaginable. I love the Habs and the hockey vibe. I love that there is constantly something going on in Montreal. Shows, festivals and and even riots. I love the permissiveness of the culture. You can smoke marijuana on while walking down a main street. The shopping district is peppered with strip clubs. You can drink on the streets during the St. Patrick's day parade. It has so many things traditionally associated with seedy areas, and yet I've never once felt unsafe. I love that it is all French, but you can get by fine with just English. I love the architecture, the old and the new. I love the botanical gardens, and hanging out in them after they close the gates. It's just about as perfect of a city as I could ask for.
