I was ticketed for cutting across private property (a parking lot). The officer was standing in the middle of the parking lot pointing at a few cars at a time to stop. Can I fight this?

No. it is a traffic violation, in most all jurisdictions, to cut through private property to avoid the intersection. as long as the officer personally observed this violation, he can stand anywhere. it was probably a lot safer to stop you on the private lot, rather than a less safer location on the highway. chances are, the owner of the private property requested the police to issue citations. it happens all the time.

You can fight anything like that in court. However, the office was within his rights to pull multiple vehicles over. You broke the law, he did not.
