MG1942 Has a Life Penguin

Question

Help answer this question below.

Should we start an Answerbag category to memorialize or eulogize Baggers who have passed away? The whole Blank Savage thing made me think of it.

It's a excellent idea. Hopefully it won't get a lot of postings. I was stunned to hear about Blank. Make the suggestion and see what happens. +4

I personally think something happened to Teknimage back in January but I will probably never know. He just dropped out of sight with no farewell and never came back. Geez, I miss that guy.

    Mr. Meaulnes

I think it might be a better idea to start up a category memorialising some of the great ABers who have stopped coming around for *Whatever* reason.

Seeing as sudden death striking an Answerbagger is a very rare occurrence (Not to be disrespectful or callous towards Blank's memory, but, frankly, it is an extreme rarity in the AB community), I've been toying with the idea of "Eulogy" questions for departed ABers for a while now, but I never really got up the nerve to suggest it.

I can think of a lot of great people who've left the site who more than deserve memorials, and one person in particular whom I'd be interested in "Eulogising" personally.
But making a whole category just for the deceased ones would be too narrow and probably get very little traffick apart from wrongly categorised Q&A.

Perhaps. If not a category, something.
Personally I'd like to dedicate these lyrics to all Answerbaggers of yesteryear:

    Late afternoon, dreaming hotel
We just had the quarrel that sent you away.
I was looking for you, are you gone gone ?
Called you on the phone, another dimension.
Well, you never returned, oh you know what I mean.
I went looking for you, are you gone, gone ?

Down by the ocean it was so dismal,
Women all standing with a shock on their faces.
Sad description, oh I was looking for you.

Everyone was singing, girl is washed up
On Redondo Beach and everyone is so sad.
I was looking for you, are you gone gone ?
    Pretty little girl, everyone cried.
She was the victim of sweet suicide.
I went looking for you, are you gone gone ?

Down by the ocean it was so dismal,
Women all standing with shock on their faces.
Sad description, oh I was looking for you.

Desk clerk told me girl was washed up,
Was small, an angel with apple blonde hair, now.
I went looking for you, are you gone gone ?
Picked up my key, didn't reply.
Went to my room, started to cry.
You were small, an angel, are you gone gone ?

Down by the ocean it was so dismal.
I was just standing with shock on my face.
The hearse pulled away, and the girl that had died, it was you.
You'll never return into my arms 'cause you were gone gone.
Never return into my arms 'cause you were gone gone.
    Gone gone, gone gone, good-bye.

I think this is a nice idea. It would a nice place to share our feelings and memories, with people who understand. Not everyone makes friends online and those who don't would never understand how an online friend's passing can effect a person.

I don't think so. I've only ever heard of one ABer (Blank Savage) dying, and it isn't really a frequent occurrence.
I think ''superlative Answerbaggers'' is a more fitting category, especially given it so rarely happens.

I think it's a wonderful idea. Look at retros memorial to Blank on her profile.. not everyone knows they can go there and see that. If we had a special place to put things like that, along with our thoughts and dedications it would benefit all those who feel affected by the loss of a friend. Perhaps then our feelings won't get the chance to be classified as nonsense.

I like the idea, but I am not sure how it would work, or what purpose it would serve. Don't get me wrong, I am just trying to be practical. I know personally of only two members who have passed away, Blank Savage and Nelson. I am certain there have been more but it seems that could happen and we would never know. It obviously takes someone who knows them well enough to communicate with a surviving loved one who could relay it. I would suggest a *special* level. Like a *Ring of Honor* like the Cowboys have at their stadium. It could appear as a heading on the rank page or something, mabybe? Just a thought.

You're reading Should we start an Answerbag category to memorialize or eulogize Baggers who have passed away? The whole Blank Savage thing made me think of it. - which can also be phrased in the following ways:

  • Should AB have a "In Memoriam" section for Blank Savage on AB homepage even if it is just for sometime? Do you support this idea? Maybe we can request AB if we have enough people supporting this idea
