Hi Frank. Sorry...personal peeve of mine, but don't call them children. Anyone from Paris Island, Lackland AFB, or Ft. Gordon might loosen your teeth if you were to call them a child. If a white man from Alabama called a black man a "boy" back in the '60s, it was clearly a denigration. Our troops aren't children. They're young men and women Just my $0.02.

no, i dont have any offspring of yet... but i have a cousin and numerous close friends over there. i have the most respect for them, and i know how hard it is on them and their families. let's hope they can come back safe.

My child is 21 and he's a full bore Marine in Iraq. You still love them as a child even when they are 50. I worry about him and send him stuff to try and make the stay easier. The kids in the local grade school draw pictures for him and his buddies to hang in their quarters. He's also my "boy". I miss him, I love him and I'm proud of him. Nuff said.

Not a 'child', but my nephew is serving a second tour and hopefully will be back in SC in April with his bride of only a few years and their adorable baby girl. Thanks for the good wishes. We take all of those we can get for Trey.
