Question

Help answer this question below.

When I drive my truck I hear a clunking noise. I think it is coming from my front end wheel/axel area. The speed of the clunking matches with the speed of the car. It is not anything stuck in my tires. Could it be the bearings or something like that?

It is not coming from the differential. It is coming from the front end, right by the tire. I will check for anything loose, but I doubt thats what it is. I have a bald spot in my tire too that could be making a squeeking noise. I do all the work on my own truck so I have a good understanding of the mechanics of an automobile. But I had to ask because I have never heard this sound on a car before. It's really wierd. I will check it out. I am putting new tires on it this weekend so I can take a look at it then.

I would bet it is a u-joint if it is a 4 wheel drive.

Bearings make a high pitched grinding or a stone vs. stone rubbing sound when they need attention. I would look at your differential, then other components of the drivetrain. Also have the mechanic check that all bolts are tight underneath the vehicle. Any clunking noise should alarm the average driver. You are right to be worried. Get it checked ASAP.
