According to some of the documentaries I have saw, bats pretty much fly every direction when exiting a cave.
-
The bats that I saw headed straight out of the cave and then fanned out to both the left and right. (This was in the aptly named town of Bat Cave, North Carolina.)
-
No. Bats use a sonar system of sound with a frequency of about 50 thousand vibrations per second. (A human can barely detect 20,000 vibrations per second) It sends these sounds in all directions 20 or 30 times each second. The echo of the sound is so powerful that the bat understands the existence of objects in its path. A bat flies into clear space rather than an area where there are objects.

The Democrat bats turn left. The Republicans turn right.

I am a supervisor at a major airline. It's actually true. Bats always exit stage left--I think I ate some bad crawfish.
-
it really depends on which lane they're in and the amount of traffic
-
Why would an airline supervisor know how bats exit caves??
-
In the Northern Hemisphere, bats exit their caves to their left. In the Southern Hemisphere, they exit to the right. This is due to the coriolis effect, the same force which causes hurricanes and tornadoes to rotate counter-clockwise north of the equator and clockwise south of the equator. This effect is an inertial force caused by the earth's rotation.
