  • Just as human as anyone else. (They're not "my" clergymen anymore.)
  • Just another human being that has chosen a profession to be of service.
  • My clergywoman is just another regular human being, meaning that she carries the divine spark of God in her. She is loving, spiritual, wise, and committed to service because she has made the decision to realize and practice her oneness with God that we all have.
  • As a child I saw my clergy acting as human, or less holy, than every one else in the community. That began my adventure into agnosticism. I cannot make myself believe that any of these people have a better connection to a god/spirit than I do. I cannot take spiritual direction from people who live by rules that are not the rules they preach. So, to answer your question, I see them as regular Joes with larger egos than most.
  • A regular human being who has chosen to be of service and devote themselves to understanding the connection of the divine to current society. A great sermon can make you feel the wonder of what is written and the hope of a human saved soul. That is what I believe but unfortunately I struggle with it. It has been awhile since I have feel this in my life.
  • Since I am my own clergyman, I will tell you that I am definitely NOT next to God and I AM just human. However, having said that, God has promised to be next to all of us. But that is all about grace and mercy and never about our merit.
  • The ordained clergy begin their ministries out of a sense of "Call" - a sense that this is what God is asking..no...telling them to do. Other professions have the same sense of call. In the mainline Christian churches in order to be ordained, a person must undergo as much as 4 years of training...some of it psychological to cull out those who have hidden agendas. The "call" must be validated by a congregation...in addition to the ordaining body. This is not the case in some other church bodies, who only ask that a person feel s/he is called by God. Somewhere along the way, a few clegy lose their way. Sometimes it is due to the job pressures, (eg. leaving s sick child at home to tend to a dying church member), burnout from trying to do too much with too little, and similar problems...the same kind of problems that other professions are subject to. Bottom line: Yes, pastors are regular people, (even tho I did hear one speaker start his introduction, "Welcome ladies, gentlemen and clergy).
  • ONLY GOD can answer that of ANYONE...
  • They are simply men. NO one is next to God. All humans are regular and on even footing from birth. What you choose to do with your life may make you a better human but we're all just humans.
  • (1Jo 2:27) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
