prevents photorespiration and CAM plants prevent the loss of water vapor becauuse they only fix carbon during the night whereas C4 plants fix carbon dioxide in their bundle sheath cells. C4 and CAM use the process of carboxalase to combine Co2 and PEP to create malate which drives the calvin cycle from there (co2, derived from malate, + ruBP = PGAL and so forth)
