If you don't keep your nails clean, then it is possible that you can develop nail fungus, or even get sick from the bacteria and other germs that can develop on your nails.
The best advice is to maintain the cleanliness of your nails, in order, to prevent nail fungus from developing or getting sick.

The basic answer would be that you would end up with dirty nails. Friends might notice the nails and suggest you get them cut. I don't know if you are referring to fingernails or toe nails. If you leave nails unattended for too long, they will grow too long and start to break. To have a nail split or brake off can be very painful. There would a slight possibility that if you where to injure you're fingers, it may become infected. I would suggest that you take the few minutes it takes to clean you're nails.
