But I do believe that the right was not supposed to be infringed upon in any manor, no?
-
When that amendment to the constitution was written, they had no way of knowing what technological innovations that lay ahead. I think that it needs a little tweaking here and there. Because of the items your discussing.
-
Yeah, the right to bear arms and arm bears and all points in between. Though a person who needs that much firepower should probably not be left alone for too long...
-
Yes I do think it includes includes automatic weapons, however I think things get "shady" with armor piercing bullets...
-
I think that owning an automatic weapon or armor piercing bullets is a bit excessive. I'm all for the right to bear arms, but are you seriously going to need an Uzi to fend off someone who breaks into your house or attacks you on the street? NO. I think that the "Right to Bear Arms" means the right to defend one's self, WITHIN REASON.

In the landmark case U.S. v. Miller 307 U.S. 174 (1939) the Supreme Court ruled that the 2nd amendment protected the right of the people to own arms consistent with standing armies. (the defendant in question had a sawed off shotgun, which was determined to be unprotected by the 2nd amendment) Last I checked most armies use assault rifles and armor piercing rounds.

yup-and surface to air missiles, anthrax, cluster bombs. But those tree hugging lesbians in the government want to keep Americans defenceless for when the communist UN troops invade and take over!
-
I think not.
-
No, it meant to include guns that shoot at around 1 round per minute, are extremely inaccurate, and leave thick white smoke after being fired.
-
if the 2nd amendment only applies to muskets then the 1st only applies to quill pens and hand presses.
-
The key to the answer is the word militia. The newer dictionaries make a militia out to be the National Guard and Reserves, this is wrong because a militia is a group of people who poses arms who are not attached to the government ready in the event of emergency the arms are referred to as the equivilent of the armys of the day. Back then it was the musket now its the AK-47. Look at Switzerland for instance...every house hold must have an assault weapon even to this day...did you ever wonder why Hitler invaded every country in Europe during world war 2 except Switzerland?
-
I think so,the reason for this was so people could defend them selves aginst the government if things got out of control. But even if we could own machine guns how could we defend our selves from Air attacks or tanks. They would not do mutch good.
