Regarding men's fashions, if one wears colorful suits and coordinates the shoes, should the color of the shoes match the basic color of the suit, or the shirt or or what about the color of the stripes in the suit?

It depends on the colour of the suit. If you're wearing a purple or green suit purple or green shoes are going to look a bit silly (not to mention quite difficult to locate). In general men ought really to stick to black, grey, navy or brown shoes with suits - and pick whichever of those colours work best with the colour of the suit (black is rarely wrong unless you're wearing a very pale colour) white might be occasionally acceptable, but if in doubt, ask a second opinion.

Black shoes go with just about every color, especially the grays and blues. Brown shoes only with brown clothing. White shoes, only if you are dressing casual or a nurse.
