Sure, if a woman can do the job competently, why not? The problem for women announcers in football is that they haven't played the game in a highly competitive form, and that makes them less believable to an audience. Of course no one stops to think that many of the male announcers have never played competitive football either! I know some women who could do a fine, credible job announcing football games - they know and love the game and appreciate the intricacies. It takes a lot of determination to be a woman with that career goal, but if a lady has that, more power to her.

Sure. I don't mind them, but I do know some people who do. They say football is a man sport and should be commentated on by only men. I say no. If a woman can do the job, let her do it.

Yep.

I have no comment on if they should be announcers or not.I am more used to men announcers and am more apt to listen to them.I am not against change though, and allowing women to work in the industry.
-
absolutely not, they are ruining my viewing enjoyment and I mute the TV everytime they speak in basketball, football and baseball (actually Jeanie Zalaskow on Fox is pretty good and does not annoy me for some reason)...i simply do not want to hear a winy voice on the mens sports I watch no matter how much they know, which isn't much. Does Reggie Miller's sister know basketball? Of course, but do I want to hear her mousy voice while I'm wathching the game? No way. This is not sexism, its marketing! I bet if the major networks knew who their viewers were and knew how they felt, women would be history, but they have to mamy, pamby to the feministic voice in this country...what a joke! TW

Eh, ONLY if their voice is very powerful.

If the viewers want to hear a woman, then sure. I personally simply change the channel or listen to music if it's a game I really want to see if a woman is announcing. Some are better than others, but in general they are terrible and have no passion for the game in their voice like all the best announcers do. In response to women being able to do the job competently, sometimes that isn't all that goes along with 'selling the product' which in this case is the TV station getting as many viewers to watch the event as possible. I could "competently" take my clothes off and make all the same moves as a woman does on a pole in a strip club. Are you saying that I will make as much money as a woman if I did the exact same thing? We need to be honest to ourselves and to others that sometimes men can do things better than women and vice versa. It's simply arguing with nature and there's no need in trying to force something that isn't natural.
