  • I think that once again there are parents who don't care about the health of their children. It is the parent's responsibility to make sure their kids don't get fat. There is no excuse for it! There is no one else to blame, not fast food, chips soda etc. The parents are the ones who let the kids eat too much of the wrong stuff. The same way fast food cannot be blamed for an obese adult who chooses to eat it, no blame can be put anywhere except the parents!
  • I'm disturbed. I get angry at their families.
  • I think that the parents should be investigated my Child Protective Services. That is a form of child abuse. Also, poor kid. If the kid has a healthy appetite, feed them fruit & veggies...not whatever they want to eat because they don't know any better. The parents should know better though.
  • I assume it's a glandular problem or some other kind of health issue, and that the parents are doing the best that they can. Or maybe the kid is on some kind of necessary medication with a weight gain side effect. My kid needs meds so he doesn't have scary halluciations or try to jump out windows. Most kids on this medication gain a LOT of weight, but mine got lucky and didn't gain any. (If he gained a lot, we'd look for another medication, but there's only so much you can do.) Please, people, don't be so quick to judge. No parent wants their kid to be unhealthy. If the kid is just a little overweight, I usually assume it's too many video games. But morbidly obese? That sounds like something outside the parents' control. They've probably got enough stress without people calling them child-abusers.
