... I actually shuffled, then without looking, I picked the three of diamonds.

Think about how a charioteer approaches the enemy, from the side, always protecting his vulnerability while exposing the soft underbelly of the opponent. All this, with no reins.
Makes me think of Lao Tsu, aboard his trusty water buffalo, relinquishing all control, trusting in the ways of the Universe to guide him on his path.
