- i really dont know what to say to this ,but the thought of aliens dropping off there people here and leaving them. it must have been the stupid of there race because they couldnt get off the planet.

- damn, i didn't even see that! i hate that, it seems to happen quite often. yeah maybe a little bit biased but i watched a video on youtube that was quite interesting.. a british journalist doing some research on it, he was psychologically tramautized!

- RFlagg, just a side note - I freely admit that I am far from unbiased when it comes to Scientology. I've done research, read plenty and what I find is disturbing. Mostly, I feel the need to point out the fact that Scientology has real life consequences for its members and ex-members (and sometimes, non-members) and is more than just some "weird alien religion."

- Yes, Scientology gets attention, even negative attention, but what I see is laughing at the funny alien cult, not recognition that Scientology can be destructive and dangerous to those who become involved with it. Other religions draw negative attention for their *destructive* qualities, while Scientology's negative attention comes from its *strange* qualities. As noted by a number of other responses to this question, few people seem to realize that Scientology can be destructive, too. Does that explain what I'm trying to do a little more clearly?

Scientology is a cult. Google "Fair Game" and Scientology. Fair Game is a Scientology practice permitting members of the Church of Scientology to physically attack those who publicly challenge it.

L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology's founder offered this definition of it: "Enemy - SP - Fair game. May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed."

The Church claims this practice was abandoned in 1968 because of "bad publicity." Nonetheless, to quote the LA Times, "various judges and juries have concluded that while the actual labeling of persons as 'fair game' was abandoned, the harassment continued unabated." I do not know enough about scientology to make any decisions on it. From what I see, it works for many people so it can't be that dangerous.

if we had a world of tom cruises oh yeah dangerous(hence Germany wanting to ban it lmao)The fact is if you have to pay(I have to give cristians credit, they ask, dont require)to be in a church, then that isnt a religion its a cult, and cults are dangerous

Depends on whether you mean the philosophy and accompanying methodology or whether you mean the Church of Scientology. Having been a member of the Church of Scientology, I will say that the dangers I'd seen there (I'm an ex member now) were that they take advantage of their followers. They apply a lot of pressure to people to keep coming up with more and more of their money and time. Staff members are treated like indentured servants- and that's on a good day.

I don't consider the philosophy to be dangerous- at least no more than any other philosophy out there. I know that any philosophy can be used beneficially or malignantly.

No more than any other religion (meaning: people are dangerous, not their religions - typically).

Even though it hasn't been around as long, if you compared it to other religions, how many dangerous actions can you think of/have you heard of that were done in the name of Scientology as opposed to Christianity or Islam or another religion?
