Besides Family members, did you have a babysitter when you were little? Have you ever been a babysitter for anyone besides your own family members?

My Mother had help with us when I was small.Not exactly a babysitter.

No I've never had a babysitter, and I babysat someone else once because the parents desperately needed someone to watch their kid!

No babysitter when I was a kid but I have been a babysitter for probably over 100 kids and they all lived to tell about it:)

My mom worked and as a single parent she had to have sitters for awhile, but I am ashamed to admit that I was a horrible kid and did everything I could to get them fired! It worked. I became the babysitter for my younger siblings when I was about 8 or 9. At 12 I got my first job as a babysitter, opened a savings account and got my S.S.I. number. I babysat until I had kids of my own and then would occasionally watch the kids of friends and acquaintences.
Once I had my children and my marriage crumbled around us, I found myself being a working single parent and had to use babysitters. I was never happy with them and was glad when my kids were old enough to watch themselves.

No my siblings and parents took care of me and no i just babysit my family members.

I never had a babysitter. And I've never been a babysitter. In fact the first diaper I changed was my son's.

When my brother and I were very little, we had a couple of babysitters (sisters), who were referred by my aunt and uncle, (my Mom's brother). I never knew their real names, but we called them "Pug" and "Tooter". Their parents worked filling gumball machines. It was always so cool going to their house and seeing all the gumball machine toys. Those are the only babysitters I remember. I was the babysitter from the time I was 7 or 8.

Yeah, I had an awesome babysitter when I was little, got my certificate the day I turned 12, and babysat like crazy right up 'till I got my first part time job! I was one rich seventh grader! haha.

i have been a babysitter for four different families so far on family had a two adopted children one with alcohol syndrome that i would watch for about 8 hours a day, another family with two little boys very hyperactive and not very willing to listen, and another family that i watch they're son who is paralyzed b/c of a vacination he was given when he was born and another family with two little boys and a little girl. I also worked at a day care center for a couple of months before i moved to a different state. I was only babysat by people outside of my family twice when i was youger but only for a short period of time during the summer.

Yeah. She was my friend too, not just my babysitter. She actually had a big influence on my life, now that I think about it.

And I was a babysitter for a time too. I would often watch the neighbors' kids.

We had a ton of sitters when we were kids. Parents had to go out on business dinenrs and fund raising functions a ton. I then babysat my way into a new car... and that was way back when you only got $2 an hour. Brutal what we pay now!!

I had a couple of sitters. Mostly older teens who talked on the phone all the time and rummaged through my moms clothes and jewelry. Some even stole food from us. I always told on them:-)

I'd had a few babysitters when I was a kid. Mostly some neighborhood teenagers or the lady who was a licensed day care sometimes. I babysat for the snotty boys down the street (Oh, they were heathens!) and a few other people now and then, but nothing regular.

Only a few times when I was between the ages of 5 - 7.
It was a neighbor from a few houses away.

My mom had a lady who would come give her a break. My mom's and dad's family members were in another state. I babysat in our neighborhood when I was in highschool. Now my brothers' wives and I trade babysitting to help each other out. Only family members keep my kids or a couple of my friends that I've known for years.

I think my sister and I had a lady names "grandma Theresa" come to watch us when we were very little, but I don't remember her at all. I, on the other hand, was a full-time nanny for 6 years after high school.

I only remember my parents hiring a babysitter once when I was little. My older siblings usually watched me. I was a babysitter from when I was 9 or 10 years old and all through high school. I am now a respite care worker for a 12 year old special needs boy.

1 didnt speak english
1 was lazy and yelled at me and my sister all the time
1 was a drunk and drank in front of me and my sister
1 also didnt speak english but had a male translator who would "watch" me and my sister
and finally 1 who actually watched us and now that I am older I babysit her kids, and i also babysit my brother in laws nephew and i watch a ladies kids that my sister works with

After I had my first son I stayed home and needed an income so I baby sat. Now I am in the process of getting my daycare lisence. I love kids and if it lets me stay home to raise my own than I love it even more. Sometimes you can get really burned though so do your research and find references. I was watching one little girl and her mom didn't even know my last name, she just walked in and dropped her off with a complete stranger. That was really weird. I ended up having a lot of problems with them and others I spoke to did also. Now I look into who I watch a lot closer. :)

I had many babysitters !! My mother seemed to leave us with who ever she could find. Some where very messed up. One tried to top herself while babysitting me. Another was evil made me and my sister stand in snow in bare feet and just our night wear for an hour. Some family memebers who was more keen in shagging boyfriends while we was sent to bed early.
I use to babysit my neighbours 4 children from the age of 13. It was my money to freedom. Now I am a mother myself i only have left my children with 2 close family memebers. I trust no one.

Oh Sure! Both my parents worked, we had several babysitters. One in particular was more like our nanny, she was there all day and there when we got home from school, she was great! Others were called in for occasions when my parents would go out in the evening.

I started babysitting when I was 12 and continued until I was about 18. When I watch my family's children, I don't consider it babysitting because it's my family (and I usually don't get paid, LOL)

I used to be a babysitter for a family of 4 kids between the ages of 5 & 10 the 5 yr olds were twin boy & girl the other two were boys. It was the best time!! I came up with all kinds of stuff for us to do, to stay busy. the key to getting them to bed was wearing them down before they wore you down!! I have never let anyone other then family sit my daughter though, no need. They're always there for me.

My mom actually ran a daycare in our house, so I never had to go to daycare or have a sitter during regular business hours, but if my parents ever went out in the evening, we had a couple of teenaged neighbors who would watch us from time to time, although I honestly can't remember it happening all that often. I really only remember that one of them taught me how to shuffle a deck of cards, lol.

I was actually very seldom watched by family members because most of our family lived at least an hour away. Occasionally they'd come visit and my sister and I would go out and spend the day with them, but it wasn't really babysitting.

I'm actually a nanny now, and when I was growing up I did a LOT of babysitting for the kids that my mom took care of in our home. I've been babysitting since I was 10! I have a lot of experience with kids...which will (hopefully) make it easier for me when I have my own! :)

Yeah... We had a couple of girls - one across the street (went on a vacation with us), and one down the street (until she stole some money from Dad). Then, a couple of times, Dad had one of his cashiers and her boyfriend - a manager at the store) babysit us.

I only babysat for my own siblings, except for a couple of times with my uncle's kids.

I had Plenty of babysitters when i was little that were not family member but close friends to the family, and yes i have baby say for 7 years, but now i have one on my own

Yes the high school girl who was plump next door.I built a crappy computer out of cardboard when I used to use my imagination all the time and she wanted to see it thinking it was a real one and praised the thing as if i did a good job making it.The babysitters I liked were my hot cousins they were both on the cheerleading squad in high school and even though I was a bastard to them over bed time I had the hots for them nonetheless if you saw them in bikinis you'd never wanna leave.

well the church daycare wouldn't do it becuase we had to pay school tuition so our donations to them stopped....both my parents worked til 6 or 7 at night so yes we needed a babysitter and it was actually fun with our babysitter it was a house daycare type (i guess you could call it)

Yes. I had a awesome babysitter who always tucked us in and asked how our day was. I have also babysat.

I had a full time nanny until I was five.

My mum left me, my sister and my 3cousins with a babysitter (the next door neighbours teenage daughter)

and by the time mum arrived home - the house was nearly demolished! I personally would only leave my children with family members


On saying that - I am a nanny and a babysitter in my spare time, and I have people trust me with their children all the time. They even give me door keys to their homes! People are very trusting
